Maverick Frost may be the drummer for the biggest rock band in the world; but before that he was my best friend, my first love, and the one who shattered my entire world.

Maverick changed everything between us the night he asked me to kiss him. After pushing my feelings away like a dark secret, it turned out he felt the same way. We spent that summer wrapped up in one another discovering things that I had only dreamed about.

Maverick said he wanted forever with me, and then he snatched it all away. Those emerald eyes, that stark white hair. Gone before I even had a chance to say goodbye.

Six years later I'm playing hockey for the Boston Terriers, but still I took a chance reconnecting with my best friend. Only he's not the same boy I fell in love with. He's angry; hostile and constantly on edge.

I see bits and pieces of the old Maverick hidden beneath the surface. I want to dig them out, put them together, fix him and make him whole again. If he only he'd let me in. Maybe then we can have what we always dreamed about.
